There are many ways to assist in the support of our club. We are a volunteer run organisation and our events are only made possible by the people who give their time and expertise to support them.
If you enjoy outdoor adventures, volunteering with us is a great way to do things you love while you also develop skills that support you elsewhere in life. We aim to help our volunteers to learn more about organising activities, time management, teamwork, communication and leadership, and giving you an overview of the process that goes on behind the scenes. We want to develop the confidence and competence of those who contribute to our club. Volunteering is also a great way to meet new people and build personal and professional relationships.
You are welcome to contact us at any time about volunteering opportunities.
Club Governance
You too can join the UNEOAC committee!
The committee is responsible for the organisation and financial management of the club. Members of the committee are able to vote on agenda items and make a difference in the success of the club.
To join our committee you must attend the Annual General Meeting (AGM) which is held early every year (keep an eye on our Facebook events). There are a variety of roles with different responsibilities you can contribute to depending on your interest and time commitment.
Event Organisation and Assistance
You are always welcome to join in supporting UNEOAC at any of our events throughout the year. We are always keen to involve people in the planning, organising, and assistance at our events. Every little bit helps to make our events more engaging and exciting. We aim to create enriching experiences for all our members!
You can get involved by coming up with ideas, connecting us with people who have relevant expertise to support events, hosting a webinar or training activity, leading trips, supervising and keeping people safe, or even just chopping some onions for a Bunnings BBQ fundraiser. There are many ways to help out that make a difference to our small committee.
Climbing Supervision
We are always looking for new supervisors for the climbing wall and outdoor climbing events.
We have a group of volunteers who provide supervision at the SportUNE climbing wall on a regular basis. We accept anyone able to either supervise on a regular night (e.g. every second Monday) or do casual covers when a regular supervisor is unavailable. Supervisors are there to provide inductions to new climbers, assist climbers as needed, and make sure people are safe.
Supervisors have free entry on the night they supervisor and are free to climb when it is quiet. Supervisors are also eligible for approval to access the climbing wall outside of supervised climbing hours.
We provide an induction to new supervisors to ensure you are aware of the climbing procedures at SportUNE, assess your climbing skill and knowledge, and to make sure you are comfortable to support others.
You will need to have some climbing experience before supervising. If you are at all interested in being a supervisor, please contact us! We will provide you with more information and organise a time for an induction.
